Absolutely the very best for Brunch.

The lines out the door at 11:00. Lucky me I always sit at the bar.

Had the Texas burger. Amazing.

Had the side chicken salad. Again Amazing.

The beer, cold and outstanding.

From what I saw coming out of the kitchen. All the brunch breakfast looked extremely good.

A must do place and also a repeat place.

The Crafthouse is located in an unpretentious strip mall on 34th near to Texas Tech. My visit last evening with colleagues was predicated upon reading other Yelp reviews, which piqued my interest. I definitely enjoyed the dining experience. I ordered their grilled chicken salad with a side of Swiss chard. The salad was scrumptious although the side was small and I feel could have been larger based upon the cost of $ 5.00. One of my colleagues ordered a pizza that she hardly touched because it had way too much cheese. The Crafthouse has a decent offering of wine and beer on their menu and the prices are reasonable. My party had mixed reviews of their respective meals yet by and large the consensus of opinion is that this restaurant is pretty good and worth a return visit. My minor suggestion to the owner is to ask the servers not to take customers plates when there is still food left or a sip or two of wine remains in our glasses, which was the case last evening with our particular server.

I was invited to join a younger buddy at noon on a Saturday. The restaurant is easy to get to and has nice parking. I got confused which isn’t unusual for me, and entered into a wrong door into an empty construction area. Geeze Louise. Once in the right door, I see my buddy whom I hadn’t seen since last football season at his tailgate. I will call him Kevin to protect his identity.

The interior is nice, but not so nice it make you feel uncomfortable. We were immediately met by an older lady who turned out to be a very capable waitress. I should have tipped her more. Kevin suggested we start with a Pretzel and I opted for the All-day breakfast for $10. Kevin chose the Fried Ham Sammie. If I go again, I will probably get that or a Bison Burger. The burgers are ½ lb for $14. I am not a huge beer person, and I knew that Kevin is, so I asked him to choose a beer for me to drink. He chose a Fleur de Wheat which turned out to be pretty dang good. I only drank one, but could have easily drank a few more if I wasn’t driving.

The pretzel came and it was pretty amazing. It was $7 which is kind of high, but they give you Shiner bock Mustard and Blanco Queso to dip it into. Blanco Queso wins.

After hearing a few stories from Kevin, our entrees came. I had asked for sunny side up eggs and received one egg and the yoke was overcooked and not runny at all. The Texas Toast was burned but not too bad. The egg was draped over grits with sausage. The sausage was pretty good and the dish could have used a little more sausage and a little less grits. Overall I was not that impressed with this dish. I have had better at Cast Iron Grill and Cracker Barrel. Kevin’s Fried Ham sandwich looked legit.

We sat at a table and right behind Kevin was a booth with two fit middle aged pretty females. The reason I mention this is because I now wonder if they heard some of the stories Kevin told me. He has better stories than probably anyone I have ever met face to face. These are stories about brothels in Germany and Amsterdam or personal female servants he had in Malaysia. Also his consumption of psychedelic mushrooms and other mind altering substances. If Kevin ever wrote a book, I would read it. He would also be good if he ever decided to do a podcast.

Overall I had a really good time. This was due mostly to whom I was with more so than what I was eating. After all it was lunch and I rarely eat lunch and $26 is a bit steep for my wallet. Hell, I can eat dinner at Anna’s twice for that amount and get hugs!

This is an official frekview. God bless dirt city. God bless the Texas Tech baseball team who are keeping me entertained and my father alive.
